Moisturizing Dog Shampoo with Apple Cider Vinegar to Ease the Itchies
Homemade Moisturizing Dog Shampoo -- powered by ehow
There are many good reasons to make your own moisturizing dog shampoo. You will save money first and foremost, you can save the environment, and you will know exactly what ingredients are going into your dog shampoo. So if you have an itchy scratchy dog, this might just be a life saver.
When you make your own shampoo you need to keep in mind your dog’s skin pH. A normal dog’s skin pH is anywhere between 6 and 8.5 and today the shampoo we’re going to make falls in the range of about 7 to 8. Right in the middle.
So let’s get started.
4 cups of warm water
1 cup of apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons of unscented liquid Castile soap
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
Three drops of Lavendar Oil (for dogs only)
You need some kind of fatty acid or a butter to really get into that hair shaft and moisturize your dog’s coat, and I’m going to add a couple of drops of lavender oil, this will not only calm my dog, but it helps with itching, scratching, and will make him smell delicious.
